When to visit
What restorative dentistry can address
When a tooth has decay, a crack or a damaged filling, we first assess how much healthy tissue remains. This helps us recommend a filling or another type of restoration.
- treating tooth decay and placing fillings;
- replacing unsuitable or leaking fillings;
- rebuilding a cracked or chipped tooth.

What treatment involves
Examination
We assess the damage and take a diagnostic X-ray if needed.
Treatment
We remove damaged tissue and restore the tooth with a suitable filling material.
Review
We check that the filling does not interfere with your bite and that the area can be cleaned properly.
Follow-up care
Checking your filling and bite
After placing a filling, we check how your teeth meet. If the filling feels too high or you notice other problems after your visit, contact us for a review.
Frequently asked questions
Before your visit
Does an old filling always need replacing?
Age alone is not a reason to replace a filling. Your dentist checks its condition, the surrounding tooth and any symptoms.
Can a filling repair a chipped tooth?
It depends on the extent of the damage and the remaining tooth. After examining it, we compare a filling with other suitable restorations.
